Flamenco
![]() |
Flamenco is a form of traditional music from Spain which was derived from influences from the Moors. Flamenco stands for rythm, passion, expressiveness and excitement. There are many different types of rythm, also known as compás in flamenco music. Compas stands for a pattern of rythm that is continously repeated. The typical dances of Flamenco like Soleares, Bulerias, have a compas of 12 beats with accents on the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 10 and 12th beat.
Eache sequence of 12 beats creates a compás. In these compases there is a returning pattern of accented beats. On these accents flamenco guitarists use the golpe or rasgueado to give accent to these beats.
